Out of this magnificent & abundant region comes the
diminishing calls of some rare & endangered birds. If we are
quiet we can still hear some of their calls...
Represented in fused glass is the
arial view of the Caldera land formation where spiralling out come
the sounds of several birds, revealed here by the distinctive call
of the Olive Whistler. On each note are fused iron oxide images of,
in order of appearance the Olive Whistler, Paradise Riflebird,
Rufus Scrub bird, Coxen's Fig Parrot, White Browed Scrub Wren,
Rainbow Bee Eater, Dollarbird, Eastern Bristlebird, Tawny
Frogmouth, Mistletoe Bird, Wompoo Fruit Dove and last but not least
the Regent Bowerbird.
This work was created for the
Caldera Artfest 2011 and is over 1 meter across
